Musical instruments of all time and places

As we were in Paris in May, we went to “La Cité de la Musique“, with its museum dedicated to musical instruments. Even if you are not really fond of music, this museum is a must see, as you can discover masterpieces of art of all time and places. The audio guide enables you to learn more about the instruments, but the best part is that you can hear how those instruments sound.

You will hear recording of music played on those museum pieces by musicians who also play performances inside the museum on instruments on display. As it was the European night of museums, we visited the Music Museum at night and it gave authentic dimensions to the visit. As we left the museum at 1am we were surprised to see hundreds of people still coming in! Below the museum you can also find temporary exhibitions and concerts.

The museum is situated in La Villette park, so you can combine your visit with some walk in the park, visit of the scientist museum, or enjoy one of the concerts of the summer. First week of September is the Jazz festival.
